Gwyneth Keen

LaughterHaving spent many years as a professional singer, performing at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, NEC and numerous Art Centres; Theatres and Festivals across Europe and the UK, I released four albums and enjoyed delivering workshops and seminars on traditional music and stage performance for both Trinity and individual centres and colleges. The combination of being a mother of two and a hectic touring schedule was not a great mix so I decided to complete my formal qualifications. I obtained a Ba(hons) in Childhood and Development and began to specialise in Early Years. After being awarded ‘outstanding’ in all areas twice over a span of 7 years from Ofsted I continued to study for a Msc in Psychology, specialising in the effects of “Music and the Notion of Self” and was approached to have research published by the British Psychological Society. I am currently completing another MA in Early Years with a view to research how social interaction amongst young children can be enhanced through music by using a social constructionist approach. I am a ‘Lead Professional’ for Gloucestershire County Council’s Early Years Team, I also manage a centre for Early Years based in Hartpury, Gloucestershire. I am registered as a South West Music Leader, work as a private singing teacher and I still perform regularly in the UK and Europe.
